Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) deputies responded to a wreck on Highway 105 on Wednesday, Dec. 12, around 7 p.m. causing the death of a 31-year-old bicyclist.

According to preliminary information from DPS, a 2008 Ford truck was traveling southbound on Highway 105. At the same time, a bicyclist was traveling north on the shoulder of the southbound lane. The driver of the truck left the southbound lane and went onto the shoulder striking the man on the bicycle.

Silsbee Police Department are asking for help in identifying three black male suspects of a robbery outside of the Dollar General located at 955 Highway 327.

Beaumont police are asking for public help to identify the subject in the photo. They report on Dec. 2, he committed theft of copper wiring from a business in the 800 block of Chamberlain. Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to call the Beaumont Police Department at (409) 832-1234, or Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477).

After three drug arrests in less than three months, Kristopher Wade, 26, of Beaumont, was sentenced by Jefferson County Judge Larry Gist to serve 20 years in prison.

According to information from Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney's office, Wade was first stopped Oct. 22, 2017 and was found to be in possession of both crack and powder cocaine, methamphetamine, Promethazine and marijuana.

Jefferson County commissioners are seeking public input relating to funds for a home buyout/acquisition program for property owners who had damage from Hurricane Harvey.

The county has been alloted approximately $2.5 million for the program. Under General Land Office guidelines, the program has allowed for two options: allow the county to purchase the property according to a pre-storm fair market value, or under the acquisition portion of the program, allow the county to purchase homes for their post-Harvey values.
