The Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont is set to host two big country music acts beginning Thursday, Aug. 4, with Clint Black, followed by Dwight Yoakam on Friday, Aug. 19.

Tickets for Clint Black are currently on sale for $43-$65 while tickets for Dwight Yoakam will go on sale Friday, July 1, at 10 a.m. for $44.50-$74.50. Tickets can be purchased at the Beaumont Civic Center box office, online at ticketmaster.com, or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

The Texas Department of Transportation is conducting a public hearing to present proposed rail improvements and receive public comment pertaining to the Neches River Bridge Study.

The hearing will take place at the Civic Center, 701 Main St., Beaumont, on Thursday, July 28, 2016. Displays will be available for review at 5:30 p.m. with the formal hearing beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in getting dangerous drug dealers and drug users, along with the poisonous products they carry, off the streets. To that end, The Examiner will periodically feature a list of five persons accused of drug-related crimes here in High Five.

“Crime Stoppers and The Examiner are teaming up to fight the drug problem in Southeast Texas,” Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley of Crime Stoppers said.

More than a dozen dogs were confiscated due to suspicion of animal cruelty by the Beaumont Police Department on Wednesday, June 29, and brought to the city’s animal shelter for what shelter employees believe will be in excess of two weeks. According to a call for assistance posted to Beaumont Animal Services’ Facebook page, the influx of dogs taken from the Beaumont home Wednesday afternoon has created a dire need for foster families to help care for the displaced pets.
