Crime Stoppers is searching for the suspects in two separate robberies of the same Dollar General store on East Lucas in Beaumont, Beaumont Police Department Officer Carol Riley reports. 

According to Riley, on April 28, a man brandishing a handgun walked in to the store, located at 2730 East Lucas Dr., as employees were closing for the day, at about 9:15 p.m. He demanded money, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no patrons present at the store, and no one was injured.

Betty Kotz sat quietly in Jefferson County Judge Larry Gist’s criminal courtroom, but she sat tall. The 79-year-old waited to see what punishment would befall the man who was convicted by a jury of 12 for brutally beating and robbing her in May 2014.

The St. Michael Mediterranean Festival has become one of the most popular events of the spring and the eighth annual event, which takes place on Saturday, May 7, will continue to share Greek and Mediterranean cultures with everyone in Southeast Texas.

From 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., St. Michael Orthodox Christian Church at 690 N. 15th St. in Beaumont will be the center of all activities with traditional cuisine from Greece and other Mediterranean countries along with a variety of unique ethnic goods on sale at the bazaar and diverse entertainment.
