I can’t resist the temptation to buy those beautiful “about to flower” bulbs in the nurseries and big box stores this time of year. Can you? They tease us with such a variety of colors and flowers and fragrances that it is almost impossible to say no.

Most all of these bulbs have been “forced” to bloom, and are called “winter forced.” Some of them bloom indoors for us and nowhere else. But lately I’ve had some luck with transplanting those bulbs to an outdoor spot. What do you have to lose?

While the Lamar Lady Cardinals are sitting pretty with a 20-6 overall record and 13-3 in league play, having guaranteed spot in the Southland Conference Tournament, their counterparts on the men’s side still need to win to get in.

Multiple Southeast Texas law enforcement agencies worked together to execute an operation that led to the apprehension of four bank robbery conspiracy suspects, one of whom is a Beaumont resident wanted in Jefferson County for murder, the Beaumont Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas have reported.

The Beaumont Police Department first gave news of the arrest of the four men, identified as Micah Johnson, 37, of Humble; Eric Johnson, 36, of Houston; Gerrick Wade, 36, of Houston; and Darrel Williams, 36, of Beaumont.

This has been one of the warmest winters on record for Texas, and with all that sunshine comes bad news in the form of snakes.
