Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont will host the Big Texas Country Street Party on Saturday, Aug. 6, with gates opening at 7 p.m. Tickets for this 18-and-up event are $20 and can be purchased at the event and online out outhousetickets.com. Headlining the outdoor concert will be Cody Johnson with performances by William Clark Green and Sam Riggs. From Huntsville, Johnson is touring in support of his brand new album Gotta Be Me. His 2014 release, Cowboy Like Me, reached No. 7 on the Billboard country chart.

The “On Purpose” Tour featuring country music star Clint Black comes to Beaumont on Thursday, Aug. 4, with Black appearing inside the Julie Rogers Theatre (765 Pearl) in downtown Beaumont at 7 p.m. Tickets are $43-$65. A member of the Grand Ole Opry who was raised in nearby Katy, Black will have his entire band supporting him, so expect to hear several of his 22 No.

Barry Richards, 34, is a veteran of both the United States Army and Marine Corps. He’s from Long Island but was in Beaumont on Aug. 3 to honor local law enforcement officers.

“I want to let police know I support them,” Richards said before carrying an American flag for three miles through downtown Beaumont.

A Jefferson County jury of 12 failed to agree with the state’s allegation of third-degree theft against former Beaumont Independent School District purchasing and finance supervisor Naomi Lawrence-Lee, finding the defendant not guilty Thursday, July 28, after just a couple hours deliberating the evidence presented during three days of testimony.

Southeast Texas businesses, hunters, and individuals are invited to participate in “Break a Clay for MDA”, a sporting-clay event. Five-person teams are $600.
