H-E-B and Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas teamed up with the Gift of Life to provide free clinical breast exams and mammograms to more than 30 medically underserved Southeast Texas women Wednesday, July 6, on the UTMB mobile mammography van at the new Beaumont Health Department.

A suspect identified by police as a member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT) was arrested in Vidor July 8 for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia after callers reported the man was harassing female passersby, asking if they were "looking for a good time."

Crepe myrtle

Whether you spell it crape myrtle or crepe myrtle, you can’t help but love this long lasting bloomer. These small flowering trees or large bushes can be seen in commercial plantings and in lots of creative lawns around town. Why do we love them so much? For one thing, they bloom around 120 days throughout the spring, summer and fall. Use them as screens, lawn specimens, shrub borders and container plants. We call them “The Kings of Color.”
