On Nov. 21, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a local business in reference to a theft from a work site located on Houston River Road in Westlake, the sheriff's office said in a release.

ExxonMobil put out an early morning fire at its Beaumont refinery crude unit Tuesday, Nov. 28. The fire was reported around 6 a.m. on the south side of the refinery.

"Onsite responders quickly extinguished the fire, and there were no injuries," said Ashley Alemayehu, Beaumont Area Public and Government Affairs Manager for ExxonMobil Corporation.

Initial air quality monitoring shows no off-site impact, Alemayehu said.

Arbitration hearing of Mickey Sterling

Fired Port Arthur Det. Mickey Sterling’s arbitration hearing continued into its third day Nov. 16. But with no end yet in sight, arbitrator Don Hays postponed the hearing, and time will be set aside for him to hear the rest of the story at a later date. Hays indicated he hopes he will get the whole truth, and he is taking measures to ensure that he does.

Thanksgiving is not exactly a turkey’s dream come true. But for deer hunters it’s always nice to get lucky and harvest a turkey for the holidays. 

If it wasn’t for the Rio Grande turkeys, we wouldn’t have much of a turkey hunting season. The Rio Grande turkey is by far the most populous and widest-ranging wild turkey subspecies in our state. The other two subspecies with populations in Texas are the eastern turkey and the Merriam’s turkey.

Why do all the Marvel Comics super guys and gals seem to be having a much better time than this dreary bunch assembled to for this DC Comics latest “save the world” episode? The recent “Thor” installment proved that it was possible to ward of the evil forces of the universe and still have fun doing it.
