As the Lutcher Theater prepares for the 2017-18 season, the Lutcher Theater Service Guild is seeking individuals interested in volunteering their time and talents to help promote and support the arts and the Lutcher.

This season’s membership drive is to be held Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 5:30 p.m. in the Lutcher Theater’s third-floor lobby. The drive is open to the public and all are invited to participate in a theater tour, orientation and dinner.

Meet Dixon, a male terrier/hound mix who weighs about 25 pounds. Dixon is 6-8 months old and has been at the shelter since July 5. He is a happy, fun-loving dog who loves to play and gets along with other dogs. Beaumont Animal Care anticipates he is going to be a medium-size dog topping out at about 30-40 pounds. Comedian and television host Bert Kreischer will perform five shows this weekend at The Improv in Houston beginning Thursday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m. Kreischer has co-hosted television programs such as The X-Show on FX and is currently hosting his own show on the Travel Channel called Bert the Conqueror. One of Kreischer’s most famous stories states that he once went on a college field trip to Russian and accidentally joined a Russian mob and participated in a robbery while intoxicated. Showtimes are Friday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., and two shows on Saturday, Aug.

Monday, July 24, Jefferson County Sheriff Zena Stephens was notified by the Beaumont Police Department that part-time Jefferson County Courthouse Security Officer Juan San Miguel was under investigation for sexual assault. It was planned that he would be placed on administrative leave without pay, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office, but San Miguel failed to show up for work Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28.
