The Greater South Park Neighborhoods Partnership invites residents of South Park and neighboring communities to “A Day in the Park” on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Alice Keith Park at East Lavaca and Highland Avenue in Beaumont. It’s a day to celebrate the community while getting to know your neighbors, enjoy free good and great music. The program will also include activities and information from organizations that support the residents of South Park.

“We all deal with cancer one way or another,” said Beaumont attorney Glen Morgan when asked why he thought it was important for he and his wife, Teri, to help open a new cancer treatment center in Port Arthur. “In my practice, I represented thousands and thousands of people with it. This community has been so good to us that we thought this was a way for us to return something.”

PGA golf pro Kurt Picard, charged with two counts of sexual assault of a minor, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 13, at his home in Nederland. Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine stated in an email that the victim is 15 years old.

I was privileged to visit the small Texas town, meet many of its residents, shop in its old stores in the downtown area, and eat several times in the local Dairy Queen, made ultra famous in The Last Picture Show.
