Keith Lake fish pass was loaded with fishermen on Good Friday. Some were on the bank, but most were in boats and fishing with anything from live shrimp to fresh-caught mullet. The only problem was a lack of fish. After Rocky Chase had caught a couple of undersized reds, we made the decision to crank up and head across Keith Lake to the south shoreline and fish protected water with jigs, topwater plugs and Wakers. That’s where we found a limit of reds.

The Vidor City Council voted April 13 to change an existing ordinance to reduce instances of solicitation in the city, making it safer and easier for citizens to do business there without being harassed, said Vidor Mayor Robert Viator.

Viator said an initiative to combat the growing number of solicitors, often referred to as “panhandlers,” started in 2012 after city leaders noticed the increase in people asking for money while standing near roadway intersections.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office issued four warrants April 13 for four Orange County men alleged to have been involved in a brawl at Crystal Beach on March 18 during Spring Break.

Daletredricc Devon Wolfford, 21; Deionte Lajuan Thompson, 20; Morris Joseph, 18; and Rufus Willis-James Joseph, 18, of Orange are being charged with the second-degree felony of aggravated assault on Noah Frillou, 18, of Orangefield, who suffered major injuries to his face, resulting in a need for facial surgery.
