A car was stolen the evening of Nov. 28 at a Kroger in Beaumont located at 3845 Phelan Boulevard.

Beaumont continues to close the gap on becoming a no-kill city after Beaumont Animal Care reported an overall save rate of 87 percent at the animal shelter for the month of October. This percentage consists of an 85 percent rate for dogs, an 89 percent save rate for cats and an 89 percent save rate for wildlife.

The Beaumont Police Department responded to a call regarding a burglary suspect vehicle stopped in the roadway around Broadway and Sixth streets on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. Officers attempted to make contact with the driver, later identified as John Foutz, 35, of Beaumont, when he fled in the vehicle. 

Foutz lost control of the vehicle in the 4900 block of Pine Street and then attempted to evade officers on foot. He was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest for evading detention in a motor vehicle and evading arrest on foot.

On Nov. 28, the Port Arthur Police Department received a call from a citizen regarding a black male displaying a firearm in the parking lot of Judice's French Market at approximately 12:30 p.m. Shortly after, officers received information of a vehicle traveling on Procter Street which had been struck by a bullet, resulting in the front passenger of the vehicle sustaining a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her leg.

Hit up Beaumont Classic Movie Nights’ showing of the holiday favorite, “Elf,” on Friday, Nov. 30, and get there early for a contest that could earn free tickets to future showings while letting off a little steam (gas).

The 7:30 p.m. showing introduces the audience to Buddy (Will Ferrell), who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father.
