Judge Donald Floyd granted a temporary restraining order dated June 19 in the matter of Ron Reynolds v. BISD. A hearing in the matter will be held on June 30 at 9 a.m.

In the interim, BISD is precluded from enforcing a RIF naming former spokesperson/ current business services partner Reynolds.

Jefferson County District Attorney Cory Crenshaw now says the Beaumont Independent School District Board of Trustees' regularly scheduled 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, meeting is canceled.

Petitioners have been allowed to intervene in a lawsuit that argues over whether the next Beaumont Independent School District Board of Trustees election will be comprised of a voting map that calls for seven single member districts (7/0) or whether a voter referendum instituting five single member districts with two at-large districts (5/2) will be put forth.

Jefferson County District Attorney Cory Crenshaw sent notice June 17 to Beaumont Independent School District Board of Trustees members, superintendent Timothy Chargois, and school district attorneys advising that the pending executive session scheduled for Thursday, June 19, is contrary to government code in that the elected representatives are precluded from discussing a proposed Reduction in Force (RIF) behind closed doors.

UPDATE 3: Court ended at approximately 5 p.m., with lawyers on both sides of the issue finishing up witness testimony. Among those to take the stand along with BISD superintendent Timothy Chargois was a BISD paid consultant, a TEA finance investigator, and TEA-appointed BISD conservator Fred Shafer.
