Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in getting dangerous drug dealers and drug users, along with the poisonous products they carry, off the streets. To that end, The Examiner will periodically feature a list of five persons accused of drug-related crimes here in High Five.

“Crime Stoppers and The Examiner are teaming up to fight the drug problem in Southeast Texas,” Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley of Crime Stoppers said.

Two pools of mosquitoes on Beaumont's north end tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The first pool was collected on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Carnegie Avenue and Tyler Street. A second pool was collected at Cable Avenue near I-10, reports Kevin Sexton, director of Jefferson County Mosquito Control District. They have been confirmed positive by the Texas Department of Health in Austin.

"This is not unexpected with the hot and dry weather we had for the last month. Because of the recent heavy rains throughout the area it is probably less of a threat now," Sexton said.
