Q. I owe a lot of money and can’t seem to ever catch up with my payments. I am constantly harassed by debt collectors. I have been told that even if I file bankruptcy, I will still owe my student loans. Is this true? They are one of my largest debts.

We’re well into the deer season at this point and, as predicted by wildlife biologists, there are some very nice bucks being tagged. Some of the best are from South Texas, but I’ve seen a couple of big bucks from the Hill Country that have better-than-average antlers. With about half of the Oscar contending movies already in theaters, it’s not a far stretch to begin compiling a short list of nominations for the major awards. If you’ve seen “The Martian,” “Bridge of Spies,” “Creed” and “Inside Out” then you have been keeping up. All of these features could produce nominations in directing and acting categories, not to mention best picture.

The Groves Beautification and Old Fashioned Christmas in Groves committees are inviting the public to a two-fold festive event that begins with the lighting of the City Christmas Tree presented by the Groves Beautification Committee in Celebration Park, located at Lincoln and Coolidge. The park will be decked out for the holidays with the ceremony to begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.
