Small characters, big performances

Some of the biggest entertainment this summer in Southeast Texas comes from the smallest of characters – Southeast Texas kids.

Community theaters, like The Betty Greenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Port Arthur Little Theatre and Orange Community Players, offer constructive summertime fun for children, culminating in stage performances for all audiences, and the curtain is about to go up.

Newest comic book rendition comes up short

In this color-coded comic book of a movie, green is good and yellow is bad — very bad — but it hardly adds up to box office gold. It’s not that this is a bad film. There is just nothing new here, and these days to launch a new super hero franchise, something extra is required.

Our community needs these issues with BISD resolved

Every day throughout the community, the question put to me is always the same: Are they ever going to indict this group at BISD?

Many believe nothing is happening beyond the Calvin Walker indictment and are asking why there isn’t a full-scale federal investigation of Beaumont Independent School District.

People want to know who can they write, call or go see. They are asking if we should form a contingent of concerned community members to go to Houston, Austin or even Washington, D.C.
