In looking over recently introduced measures in the current session of the State Legislature, I discovered H.B. 1819. The bill was offered by Bryan’s state representative, Kyle Kacal. The bill provides a cause of action if a homeowner harms or kills a goat. Although that seems appropriate for the representative from the area of Texas A&M, I am given to wonder why the Legislature appears to have more concern for animals than it does many of the people of Texas.

Something happened recently that blessed my soul, and I have decided to share it with you in the hope that your heart and mind might be pricked to remember someone that has done something good for you. Just perhaps when the event, act or incident happened, you were too busy, too immature, too troubled, or just too self-centered to think much of it at the time. Maybe you did appreciate the gift, but did not take the necessary time to say thank you to the giving person.

Turkey hunting doesn’t get any better than what we have in Texas. Here in the Pineywoods, the restocking of eastern wild turkeys is still struggling in many counties but going strong in others. It’s the Rio Grande turkey that makes spring hunts so popular among thousands of hunters. They are numerous and can be found just about anywhere you hunt from Central to South and West Texas.
