The stars of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’

Starring: Lily James, Amanda Seyfried

Directed by: Ol Parker

Rated: PG-13

Here we go with the feel-good movie of the summer. It’s a sugary sequel to “Mamma Mia,” which managed to gross over $600 million world-wide in 2008. This second verse is poised to do it again with a lot of talent in front and behind the camera making it all come together for a definite chick flick pleaser.

Sold-out concert … Local country singer star Tracy Byrd and band Book of Days were a huge draw for our fair city last Friday evening, July 20. The Julie Rogers Theatre was packed and guests seem to enjoy themselves thoroughly with both of the musical entertainers. In the audience were Marci and George Brown, Dona Johnson, Elizabeth Waddill, Mary Jane Benning, Doug Fair, Stephanie and Eric Flatten, Eric Meadows, and Becky and Jerry Conn in from Austin, to name a few.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson stars in Skyscraper

‘Skyscraper’

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Neve Campbell

Directed by: Rawson Marshall Thurber

Rated: PG-13

Ours is not to question why, but to just sit back and be entertained. As silly and preposterous as this new action film is, it is still highly entertaining, and that’s what summer movies are all about.

Summer fun … Anna Kathryn Trevino, Callie Roane and Guiliana Daleo will represent our town as duchesses in Texas Rose Festival in October. These fantastic college girls attended the festival summer parties this past week in Tyler. The theme this year is “Rock the Rose.” The elaborate costumes will be based on music legends. Parents of the trio Stephanie and Bernie Daleo, Kelli and Paul Trevino, and Rachael and Stephen Roane are truly looking forward to this fantastic fall festival.

The music of Tracy Byrd never gets old. With more than 30 hit singles, a dozen reaching country’s Top 10 and several climbing to No 1, Byrd was country when country music was actually cool.
