If you have spent considerable time in Texas, chances are you have seen “Lonesome Dove,” written by Pulitzer Prize winner Larry McMurtry of Archer City, Texas. If you are a true Texan, you’ve probably seen it more than once, and you just may have seen the other three adaptions in the series. Keeping the chronological order straight is a task to be conquered with careful reading and note taking.

Fishing along the coast kicked into high gear this past weekend, with good numbers of trout, flounder and even king mackerel being caught.

One of the best fishing reports I’ve got is from Sabine Lake guide Jerry Norris. His top catches of trout, along with a few reds, have been around the rigs east of the jetties in 20 to 25 feet of water.

What’s Happening Orange County and the Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the third annual National Dance Day event on Saturday, July 30, at the Riverfront Boardwalk and Pavilion, 601 Division Ave. in downtown Orange.

Headlining will be Season 7 winner of So You Think You Can Dance, Lauren Froderman.
