Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum will hold an information and interest meeting on Thursday, July 21, for individuals interested in forming a vintage baseball team. Anyone age 13 and above is invited to hear about the rules and ideas for forming a team, practicing at the museum, and going to the Texas Vintage Base Ball competition.

When Lenny Caballero was named City of Beaumont event facility coordinator in June of 2013, he had a vision.

“Some of my goals when I became director of event facilities was to hire the best staff in the world, bring quality entertainment at affordable prices and bring people to downtown Beaumont,” he said.

Just this year, Caballero and staff has hosted concerts such as Pat Benatar, the Beach Boys and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Beaumont Community Players Kidmunity summer theater camp will perform Shrek, the Musical from Thursday, July 21, through Saturday, July 23, at the McFaddin Ward Auditorium inside the Betty Greenberg Center for the Performing Arts at 4155 Laurel in Beaumont. Tickets for the 7 p.m. performances can be purchased online at beaumontcommunityplayers.com or at the Theater. Adult tickets are $15, students $10.

Classic Movie Night will show 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman on Friday, July 15, at the historic Jefferson Theatre (345 Fannin) in downtown Beaumont. Released in 1990, the film stars Richard Gere (Edward Lewis) as a wealthy business man who needs an escort (Julia Roberts) to be his date for several business and social functions.
