After writing about the subject of faith last week in my column, a dear friend sent me this quote: “Faith is the bridge between where I am and the place God is taking me.”

Barnum and Bailey presents Barnum Bash

Missouri circus performer Cathy Carden is excited about coming to Beaumont. In fact, she said she loves Texas and always looks forward to returning to perform, along with her husband, Brett, and all of their animals. The Cardens live year round in Missouri but enjoy playing about 25 circus dates each year.

Cowboys and cowgirls have known for years that if you want something cooked right, like it was in the older days of the wild, wild West, get out the old iron skillet inherited from grandparents or the old trail cook. Add some really fresh meat and vegetables, and use tested recipes to whip up a good meal, and sit down in a comfortable environment to enjoy it with friendly folks. Southeast Texans and others visiting our part of the country can still do that today, except that they don’t have to stand over the campfire and do the actual cooking.

As acronym, means ‘Forsaking All, I Trust Him’

Some folks will live a life of faith because they simply cannot understand the simplicity of the matter. The object of our faith, Christ Jesus, is very complex and the cost He paid cannot be measured, but trusting that is simple and available to all who will choose to believe. In fact, it is so simple that many will miss it, and even people who call themselves Christian do not walk by faith day by day.
God’s greatness exceeds human comprehension.

A Saturday night dinner date with my husband turned out to be a fun night at El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant in Beaumont. The brightly lit, festive atmosphere was the first thing to draw us into the cheery, comfortable and conveniently located eatery on the Eastex Freeway. Once inside, we found friendly servers and management, and very good food. When the salsa and chips were delivered to our table, we knew we were in good hands.
