The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Beaumont will host its initial Hope for Tomorrow Luncheon and Style Show on Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Beaumont Garden Center at Tyrrell Park. Community members are urged to come out and support this important work with the boys and girls of our area who will be the leaders of the future.
Driving to 1147 Boston Ave. in Nederland provided a surprise like no other encountered on recent assignments. Arriving at my destination, a new restaurant, Finch Hutton, I had no idea what to expect. A gracious welcome to our party by an attentive staff impressed me right off the bat, but when I saw the menu offered at this French-American bistro, shock is a mild word to describe my feelings.
The Stark Museum of Art will sponsor forensic artist Lois Gibson for a presentation “The Art of Catching Criminals”, on Thursday, Aug. 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Gibson’s presentation will take place at Lutcher Theater, located at 707 W. Main Avenue in Orange. This event is free and open to the public and is followed by a reception and book signing at the Museum, along with an exhibition celebration of Explore Art: Materials and Methods Revealed.
