The middle of May is a great time for a bit of Southeast Texas tradition. The 27th annual Boys’ Haven Crawfish and Music Festival and Giant Car Show will take place on Saturday, May 12, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Parkdale Mall in the parking lot behind Logan’s Roadhouse. Some of the guests will come for the delicious food (crawfish, barbeque, hamburgers and other great choices) while ohers will come for the music.
The Beaumont Country Club will host Deliver the Difference, an appreciation luncheon benefiting Meals on Wheels. Tickets are $40, and funds raised from this May 10 event will go toward increasing the number of meals prepared daily to serve those seniors on the Meals on Wheels waiting list.
Southeast Texans have so much to choose from to see, do and participate in during any given year. Saturday, May 5, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., residents have an opportunity to visit the Mediterranean in a way that is both easy and fun. St. Michael’s Christian Orthodox Church in Beaumont is inviting members and guests to come and take part in a cultural exchange, including food, entertainment, teaching, tours and wonderful fellowship.
While we harbor no disrespect for the Wall Street Journal who called us “that scrappy little paper from Southeast Texas,” we prefer to think of ourselves as simple seekers of the truth. We’re of the opinion that headlines and sound bites never tell the whole story. Our readers demand all the facts, facets and flavors of every story or event. And, they expect to be informed, educated and stirred to action.
