It has taken the better part of my 70 years to finally come to terms with the events that have shifted my life’s course as it has been run. Please do not feel sorry for me. I have had a wonderful life thus far; I am surrounded by loving family that keep me hopping, and have a life filled with work, play and fun. I have so many friends across this country, many from years of writing their stories, and I have a great number of plans that I have not yet fulfilled. I believe my dad would have wanted it that way, from all I have learned.

Are your taste buds asking for something different for lunch or dinner? Tired of the same old, same old, day after day, and perhaps really haven’t decided what you’d like to try? Or, maybe you have a special date with someone you’d like to impress? May I suggest that you try Sol Mediterranean Grill at 4230 Calder in Beaumont, owned and managed by long-time food guru Dave Jones.

God knows everything, and I know that truth, but when I say there is a word not in His vocabulary, I basically mean that He doesn’t choose to use it with His children. Do you have any idea what that word might be? I read three articles, all of which came to my desk in one afternoon with the same general thought in mind. I puzzled through the writing and wondered if God were speaking to me about the matter. Now, God doesn’t take some super duper bullhorn and call my name when He wants my attention. I am not suggesting that.

Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant offers residents and visitors to Beaumont a taste of authentic Mexican fare without leaving our area. Owner and manager Able Martinez believes that keeping the food true to the old recipes people love and not succumbing to the Tex Mex flair is what makes his customers continue to eat with him. “Everything we make here is made by chefs who are from Mexico and understand the old ways. We are proud of our people and the food they cook and serve,” he said.

Buddy Wilcox runs a tight ship at Cici’s Pizza in Beaumont. The very busy owner/manager should know the ropes from his more than 10 years working for the company in the Dallas area. He has honed his skills to perfection in the five years he has owned the franchise in Beaumont.

Wilcox is a hands-on manager, busily handling the buffet line, helping answer customer questions, checking on hot pizzas coming out of the kitchen, and taking special orders for various combinations of toppings.
