My name is “Spot.” I am a 1-year-old female akita/shepherd mix. I weigh 67 pounds. I came to the shelter as a stray, and no one has claimed me. I am good with other dogs. I am a working dog and will need lots of exercise. My looks are a little intimidating, but my personality will melt your heart. Apartment living is not for me; I love the great outdoors with a big fenced-in yard with lots of toys. Please come and give me a good home.

While we harbor no disrespect for the Wall Street Journal who called us “that scrappy little paper from Southeast Texas,” we prefer to think of ourselves as simple seekers of the truth. We’re of the opinion that headlines and sound bites never tell the whole story. Our readers demand all the facts, facets and flavors of every story or event. And, they expect to be informed, educated and stirred to action.
