The holiday season is upon us, but you don’t have to settle for a regular turkey as your main course Thanksgiving. There are plenty of other options. It’s OK to break tradition, and you don’t have to be a Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen. Don’t forget the sides and desserts!

Ingredients

 

1 (9 1/4-lb.) fully cooked

bone-in ham

40 whole cloves

1/2 cup firmly packed

light brown sugar

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup bourbon

One of the most anticipated fall festivals of the year returns Oct. 27-29 as the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce hosts the 26th annual Village Creek Festival held at Lumberton City Park (1300 Highway 421).

The American Cancer Society saves lives by helping people get well and stay well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against cancer. ACS is doing the most to help Texans fight cancer. In Texas, nearly $36 million is currently invested in research grants. In 2014, cancer patients in Texas received more than 34,762 rides to and from treatment; 1,476 patients and caregivers were provided lodging; and 1,813 woman with cancer learned how to manage the appearance-related side effects of treatment.

The average American spends about $1,200 a year on fast food visiting these “restaurants” at least twice a week, spending, on average, $12.50 per meal. Seventy percent of Americans consume fast food up to three times a week, while 7 percent consume it on a daily basis. With that said, it’s time to head back to the drive-thru to see what fast food joints have added to their menus.
