Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum will hold an information and interest meeting on Thursday, July 21, for individuals interested in forming a vintage baseball team. Anyone age 13 and above is invited to hear about the rules and ideas for forming a team, practicing at the museum, and going to the Texas Vintage Base Ball competition.

You no longer crave the leftover barbeque from Independence Day cookouts. Plus, there’s probably no more room in your refrigerator, either. Believe it or not, we have cruised through the first half of 2016 and before you know it, there will be plenty of turkey, dressing and pies.

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we have visited some great spots over the last six months and want to remind you of some very worthy food right here in Southeast Texas.

A great time is to be had by all Friday, July 8, when the Love & Laughter Comedy Show Concert takes place at the Julie Rogers Theatre, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20-$30 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or the Beaumont Civic Center box office. The “love” will come through a performance by four-time Grammy nominated R&B singer Tank.

Golden Nugget in Lake Charles welcomes impressionist, singer and entertainer Gordie Brown for a six-show stint from Saturday, July 8, – Wednesday, July 14. The Saturday show opens at 8 p.m., and the remaining shows will start at 7 p.m. Tickets for this 21-and-older show are $10-$15 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or at the venue. Brown has consistently received rave reviews by both critics and audiences alike, and has been recognized as “Entertainer of the Year,” “Best Comedian” and “Best Show” in Nevada.

The Greatest Show on Earth will take over NRG Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Houston Texans, for a 14-day, 27-show event as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents “Circus Xtreme” from Thursday, July 14, – Sunday, July 31.
