The Museum of the Gulf Coast will host a free Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with a day filled with arts, crafts, science experiments, hands-on demonstrations of Victorian and quilting crafts, plus learn how to spin, weave and knit through traditional art forms. Classic Movie Night continues with two movies over the next six days, beginning with the 1992 comedy Wayne’s World on Friday, April 1, followed by the 1970 documentary Woodstock on Tuesday, April 5, both inside the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont.

Like a car limping along on under-inflated tires, this gets to where it’s going, but the ride is pretty bumpy. Revisiting the Portokalos family was probably a better idea on paper than it actually is on screen. Back in 2002, the original movie written by its star, Nia Vardalos, was a phenomenal hit with its fish-out-of-water cross culture story.
