Bluegrass fans rejoice as legendary performer Peter Rowan comes to Courville’s on Thursday, Sept. 22, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $40, which includes dinner. Rowan, 74, was born in Boston and became the lead guitarist of the iconic Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys in 1966. Rowan switched bands a year later joining Earth Opera and opened for the Doors. He’s released more than two-dozen albums, with the latest coming in 2014 with Dharma Blues.

Friday, Sept. 23, from 6-8 p.m., a rocking charity event, “Flood the House With Zumba,” comes to the Compro Event Center, 4155 W Cardinal Drive, Beaumont.


With September being Hunger Action Month, the Southeast Texas Food Bank will celebrate its 25th year on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m., with an event at the MCM Eleganté in Beaumont that will also honor local “Hunger Heroes,” followed by its fifth annual “Will Golf For Food” golf tournament on Friday, Sept. 9, at Bayou Din Golf Club. 


Sojourn Church and The Boomtown Film and Music Festival will a host free outdoor screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” at the Event Centre on Sept. 10, beginning at dusk, around 6 p.m.
