Known as the “Alligator Capital of Texas,” Anahuac will host the annual Texas Gator Fest on Friday, Sept. 11 – Sunday, Sept. 13, on the grounds of Fort Anahuac Park at 1704 S. Main St. It’s airboats, alligators, carnival rides, vendors, Cajun food and good music. Tickets are $15 (ages 12 and older) each day while seniors (65 and older) and children (11 and under) pay $5. Festival hours are 6 p.m.

The Mexican Heritage Society will host its 47th annual Fiesta on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Bob Bowers Civic Center (3401 Cultural Drive) in Port Arthur. For 47 years, Fiesta, which commemorates Mexico’s independence from Spain, has celebrated Mexican culture in Southeast Texas by sharing the beauty and history of Mexican heritage.
