Beginning at 6 p.m., The Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza will be the scene of a wonderful evening of fun, food and fellowship honoring President Jimmy and First Lady Susan Simmons of Lamar University and providing funding for scholarships for culinary students of the future.

Local museums get ready for Museum Day Live! participation

McFaddin-Ward House

Four area museums are participating in Smithsonian Magazine’s program Museum Day Live! The W.H Stark House and the Stark Museum of Art in Orange, the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur, and the McFaddin-Ward House in Beaumont are offering free admission for two on Saturday, Sept. 29, to anyone with a complimentary ticket from Smithsonian Magazine’s website.

Date auction gets the money flowing

Sold out success … Madison’s on Dowlen was the place to be last Wednesday night, Sept. 12, for the fourth annual Ubi Caritas Date Auction as about 25 lovely young ladies and youthful gentleman took the stage before a crowd eager to do their bidding. Chairs Samantha Richards and Traci Coleman were thrilled at this year’s proceedings from both the silent and live auction.
