Actor and comedian Aries Spears will perform this weekend at the Improv in Houston, beginning with two shows on Friday, July 1 (8 p.m., 10:30 p.m.), followed by two shows on Saturday, July 2 (7 p.m., 9:30 p.m.) and one Sunday, July 3 (7:30 p.m.). Tickets are $25 for ages 18 and older and can be purchased online at www.improvhouston.com.

The Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont is set to host two big country music acts beginning Thursday, Aug. 4, with Clint Black, followed by Dwight Yoakam on Friday, Aug. 19.

Tickets for Clint Black are currently on sale for $43-$65 while tickets for Dwight Yoakam will go on sale Friday, July 1, at 10 a.m. for $44.50-$74.50. Tickets can be purchased at the Beaumont Civic Center box office, online at ticketmaster.com, or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

The Ruxpins

The Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting its annual “Celebrate Independence Day” on Monday, July 4, beginning at 7 p.m. with a live concert from the local Americana rock act The Ruxpins at the Riverfront Pavilion.

At 9 p.m. an unbelievable fireworks show will light up the Orange sky. The event is free and there will be plenty of kids events, snow cones, drinks and more. No pets are allowed.

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) presents two dynamic exhibitions, tête-à-tête: Folk Art and Fine Art from the Permanent Collection,” a curatorial examination of similarities and differences in how artists explore related subjects; and TERESA BAKER: shape, line, what the eye is doing.

Both are currently on view through Sept. 4, and an opening reception for both will be held at AMSET (500 Main Street, Beaumont) on Friday, June 24, from 6-8 p.m.
