In the event of major thunderstorms and lightning impacting the Run/Walk at 8:00 a.m. this Saturday, regretfully, we will be forced to cancel the first phase of the event.
However, we will continue inside with the remainder of our celebratory festivities and open the Beaumont Civic Center at 9:30 a.m. for fabulous rhythm and blues singer Yvonne Washington and her band, prior to the bedazzling Richard Simmons show and picnic lunch, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The 30th annual Texas Bar-B-Q Festival presented by the Vidor Chamber of Commerce will be held Sept. 14-16 at Claiborne West Park (4105 North) located between Vidor and Orange, just off I-10.
A soaring evening … It was wheels up this past Friday evening as co-captains Michele and Mitchell Smith along with first lieutenant Lynn Castle orchestrated the Art Museum of Southeast Texas silver 25th anniversary gala “Come Fly With Us” honoring Beaumont-born artist Paul Manes.
While we harbor no disrespect for the Wall Street Journal who called us “that scrappy little paper from Southeast Texas,” we prefer to think of ourselves as simple seekers of the truth. We’re of the opinion that headlines and sound bites never tell the whole story. Our readers demand all the facts, facets and flavors of every story or event. And, they expect to be informed, educated and stirred to action.
