As various Republicans vie for the right to face the president of the United States in the 2012 election, Texans watched with more than passing interest as the man who has been their governor longer than any chief executive in Lone Star state history lurched into the race earlier this year.

It is likely that nearly everyone remembers where they were 10 years ago when the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. were attacked by a terrorist group and where a group of brave passengers on Flight 93 made the decision to rush the cockpit – giving their lives – to save others.
