The Harlem Globetrotters

The World Famous Harlem Globetrotters known for their one-of-a-kind family entertainment will bring their 2018 World Tour to the Ford Arena on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 4 p.m. to take on their longtime adversaries, the Washington Generals.

The Globetrotters will face a revamped Washington Generals team, which recently launched a more competitive profile, making an appearance in “The Basketball Tournament” over the summer. The Generals are looking to snap a 47-year losing streak against their world famous rivals during their 2018 tour.

The Museum of the Gulf Coast’s popular Children’s Art Competition is open this year to artists of all ages. Artists may enter up to two pieces in any medium.

Entry forms can be downloaded on the museum website or picked up at 700 Procter St., Port Arthur. Children’s entries (17 and younger) are free. $10 per adult entry (18-plus) will go toward a cash prize for “Best in Show.”

Deadline for entries is Feb. 3. Have your art seen by thousands during Southeast Texas Mardi Gras!

Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas Foundation’s annual gala La Soirée will be held Jan. 27 at the Beaumont Civic Center. Guests who appreciate the nostalgia of days past will especially enjoy this year’s theme — A Roaring La Soirée.

Music from the ‘20s and fantastic food from Bando’s will keep the party going.

Harvest House Gala 2018

Harvest House is asking you to put on your boots and Western glamour for the second annual “Under the Texas Stars” Gala on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Compro Event Center in Beaumont.

Tickets are $75, and tables of 10 are $1,000 with all proceeds used to invest in a safe house and aftercare programs for adolescent victims of sex trafficking. Approximately 79,000 minors and youth are victims of sex trafficking in Texas

Harvest House is a Christ-based nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded to respond to the heart breaking epidemic of child sex trafficking.
