After 2016 sell-out, Bobby Bones coming back to Beaumont in May

After selling out the Jefferson Theatre in mere minutes in 2016, Bobby Bones is returning to the Jefferson on Friday, May 11. Known for his nationally syndicated morning show on country radio called The Bobby Bones Show, Bobby has built his career on the ability to multi-task. He’s not only a radio DJ, but also a best-selling author, chart-topping recording artist, TV personality and philanthropist.

Temporary exhibit of student art from across Texas

Art on display at the Big Thicket

Big Thicket National Preserve has announced the installation of a new temporary art exhibit in the park’s visitor center. Titled “All the Little Things,” this art installation, a part of the Dream Rocket Project, encouraged students throughout Texas to create more than 70 pieces of art highlighting the vast array of plants and animals found in the Thicket. Each piece represents the student’s unique perspective on the diversity of the natural environment throughout this region.

Make-A-Wish sends Beaumont girl to 'Nutcracker' in Houston

Wednesday, Jan. 4, Emily-Lauren Neild of Beaumont (above at right) received her wish from The Make A Wish Foundation. She was taken by limo to the Houston Ballet’s performance of “The Nutcracker” where, after the performance, she got to have a personal meet-and-greet with the cast.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit that arranges experiences described as “wishes” for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

In talking with one of my grandchildren the other day, I discovered a phenomenon that has not changed since I was a teen, and believe me, that has been a very long time now. (I celebrated my 75th birthday on Dec. 23, 2017). He wanted what he did not have, when just a few weeks ago, he wanted what he now has.

Pet of the Week: Gerry

Gerry the dog

Gerry is a sweet pup who had a hard beginning! He was seized by the Orange PD in September after he was left in a car for over an hour with three other dogs. The other dogs ganged up on Gerry, who suffered extensive bite wounds. Orange Animal Control seized Gerry, and the Humane Society wants to give him a fresh start. A dachshund at about 27 pounds and maybe 3 and a half years old, he’s very handsome and playful, and would make a perfect addition to any family. Gerry gets along well with other dogs and adores attention! He has lots of energy, so a fenced in yard is a must.
