Presented by NMGM Productions, Forever His is a serious, thought-provoking love story you will remember forever, and its coming to the Jefferson Theatre (345 Fannin) in downtown Beaumont on Saturday, July 29. It’s the story of a young woman who struggled with her past for years, using pills and alcohol to forget those nights she swore she would keep a secret. Tragedy strikes, and now she must tell all to her mother and her newfound love in order to be set free and be “forever his”!

The fourth annual National Dance Day not only has a new date, but new location as well. What’s Happening Orange County? and The Hub will present National Dance Day in Southeast Texas on Saturday, July 29, from 9 a.m. – noon at the downtown Beaumont Civic Center (701 Main), and it’s free to attend.

“We are moving indoors,” said Penny LeLeux, organizer of the local event. “The last two years, the July heat has been brutal.”

The goal has always been to draw dance enthusiasts from all around Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana

Tickets are now on sale for “An Open Book: An Evening with Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October” on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the downtown Jefferson Theatre. This rare and intimate show features Furstenfeld, vocalist, songwriter and guitarist for the rock band Blue October, playing an acoustic set of songs never before heard, as well as stripped down and softer versions of Blue October fan favorites. The evening will also consist of spoken word and a Q&A session, allowing the audience to interact with him.

Aug. 16, 1892, the Gladys City Oil, Gas, and Manufacturing Company was incorporated. Eight days later, on Aug. 24, 1892, it was chartered by the state of Texas. Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum will honor this occasion with cake and a gusher Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. The gusher will blow at noon. Cake will be served while supplies last.

The blacksmith will be working in the Southern Carriage Works from 10 a.m. to noon. In lieu of admissions, donations will be accepted. Last admission is at 4:20 p.m. and the store will close at 4:30 p.m.
