Lamar University will host a “Standing Ovation” – a celebration honoring LU President Jimmy Simmons and first lady Susan Simmons – on Saturday, March 2, at the Montagne Center in Beaumont. Simmons is stepping down after more than 14 years of service as president and 43 years with the university. Activities will begin with the Lady Cardinals’ basketball game at 4 p.m. and continue with the Cardinals’ men’s game at 6 p.m.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Jesus reaffirmed this Old Testament truth by repeating it, living it and gaining victory over the devil with God’s Word. Today we will hear Him speaking words in parables. I am reading from Luke 16:19-31.
