Beaumont Rotary Club scholarship recipients

The Rotary Club of Beaumont recently announced the selection of the club’s scholarship recipients, Beaumont ISD seniors Marij Wali Janjua and Victoria Michelle White.

The defending Southland Conference champion Lamar women’s soccer team is offering a pair of one-week youth soccer camps this summer for boys and girls from ages 4 to 13. All camps will be at the LU Soccer Complex.

Camps are scheduled for June 11-15 and July 9-13. The camps for youngsters 4-6 years of age will run from 9-11:30 a.m. each day, while the camps for players 7-13 run from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) hosts Treasure Auction: The Art of the Abstract on Thursday, May 10 with dinner and cocktails beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the live auction following at 7:30 p.m.

Spindletop Center was born when Beaumont State Center and Life Resource joined forces to become a community mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities center that provides services in Jefferson, Orange, Hardin and Chambers counties.

Bob Schneider

Tickets are still available for Bob Schneider, who performs at Courville’s on Thursday, April 19, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased by calling (409) 860-9811. Schneider, 52, is no stranger to Southeast Texas as he played Courville’s in early 2017. He sings, plays the guitar as well as the keyboard, trumpet and harmonica, and has been releasing music since the early ‘90s when he sang for bands like Joe Rockhead and Ugly Americans. He’s recorded more than a dozen albums and was honored numerous times at the Austin Music Awards.
