Spring has officially arrived, and what better way to celebrate the fantastic weather than the 15th annual Art in the Park hosted by the Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau

This popular family-friendly event is free and open to the public and is scheduled for Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stark Park, 711 Green Ave., in the heart of downtown Orange.

It’s two classic rock bands for the price of one as Golden Nugget in Lake Charles hosts Average White Band with special guest Tower of Power on Friday, March 24, at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for this 21-and-older show are available online at ticketmaster.com or at the venue for $40-$50.

Cha-ching! It’s time for the Art Museum of Southeast Texas annual fundraiser Go for the Gold on Thursday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Olympic AMSETTA” and everyone is encouraged to come ready to win in sporty, athletic wear in honor of your favorite Olympian hero.

One ticket, which costs $100, admits entry for one into the exciting, reverse drawing and two “athlete” entries into the Go for The Gold party with cocktails and dinner catered by Two Magnolias along with the emcee entertainment of Rocky Chase and Carlo Busceme.

The public is invited to attend Duty Calls: Honoring Our First Responders at the Julie Rogers Theatre on Tuesday, March 21, at 6 p.m. This event will recognize first responders from Beaumont Police and Fires Departments, and Beaumont EMS. 

The committee, which includes Anna J. Brian, Carol Gary, Elaine Henderson, Barbara Marshall, Barbara Otto, and Robin Troy have joined forces with Mayor Becky Ames and the City of Beaumont to help show support to first responders and provide each one of them a copy of the devotional book, Strength for Service to God and Community.
