She Kills Monsters

Monsters, swordfights and blood-thirsty, bullying cheerleaders capture the stage this October in a comedic, action-packed production of “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen, presented by Beaumont Community Players in collaboration with Ad Hoc Beaumont.

The Backyard Music Hall inside Jerry Nelson’s Hill Country welcomes the hometown record release concert of Kree Harrison on Friday, Oct. 14, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online at jnhillcountry.com. Harrison, 26, is celebrating the release of her first full-length album titled This Old Thing. From Woodville, Harrison was the runner-up on Season 12 of American Idol in 2013.

The City of Beaumont will host Oktoberfest at Rogers Park on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 3-8 p.m., a free event for all agents. There will be a beer garden, food and plenty of entertainment from performances by local acts Cody Schaeffer, Barelands and a polka performance from the Royal Klobasneks. Schaeffer is an Americana folk performer from Beaumont.

New Orleans folk singer Andrew Duhon will perform at Courville’s on Thursday, Oct. 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling (409) 860-9811. As always, Courville’s famous buffet dinner is included. Duhon, a teller of stories, has released three records, and his last, The Moorings, was nominated for a Grammy.

The legacy of the beloved “Mister Rogers” lives on with the hit television series, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, from The Fred Rogers Company and airing daily on PBS Kids. Now, Daniel and all of his friends are hopping aboard Trolley to delight live audiences with Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live! coming to the Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $28-$35 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or the Beaumont Civic Center box office.
