A group of Texas physicians is fighting government roadblocks to secure care and services to help their patients in need — to access addiction-fighting drugs, or obtain devices to help people with disabilities move.

The 34-member Texas Delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates will ask the policymaking body to adopt a resolution this week to help patients with disabilities get devices to help them move, and another to allow physicians to prescribe medications electronically for patients they know.

“Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.” — Kahlil Gibran

Memorials, objects that serve to remind of a person or event, have been erected for various people, occasions and organizations from the Haymarket Martyr Memorial to the National September 11th Memorial & Museum. Memorials serve a much-needed function for citizens to remember and, therefore, live with a greater passion. The Big Thicket is now host to one of these remembrances thanks to Joshua Davis, West Brook freshman.

Just hearing the title of this makes me want to break into the song from “West Side Story.” It’s Maria’s big number as she sways and preens in front of the mirror. There is a lot of that going on in this movie, too, but it may be just an illusion and not a celebration of love at first sight.
