I was discussing the upcoming archery deer season with Gary Cox, owner of Trophy Hunter’s Archery in Lumberton last week. Cox indicated that each year more and more folks were becoming involved in not only the deer hunting, but also all sorts of other hunting offerings. Feral hogs have become really a top-notch challenge for archers. There is an overabundance of the feral pigs, and archers are chomping at the bit to go after them.

Oscar Mauzy, former state senator and Supreme Court justice, had a large sign hanging on the wall of his senate office. It read, “Forgive and remember.” Unfortunately, too many voters have not adopted the part about remembering. It is my belief too many voters do not necessarily forgive — they simply forget.

We have all heard the common and trite clichés that the only things that are for sure are death and taxes. For computer users, regardless of operating system or brand of computer, there is a third “truth,” and that is that hard drives will eventually fail. Hard drives, regardless of brand and reputation, are electro-mechanical devices with a lot of very fast moving parts, motors and some type of electronic controller that makes it work.
