Many of those really all-year-around fishermen were not really interested in speckled trout. In fact, there was little interest in flounder. Redfish were the prey, and not only in Louisiana but also in our great state.

For the first time in many months, we’ve gotten enough rain to bring East Texas lakes back up to normal levels, and with that in mind there should be lots of people heading to places like Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend. Couple that with great fishing on Sabine Lake and East Galveston Bay, and there will likely be more boaters on the coast and on inland lakes than in the past couple of years.

How about blackberries for a start? They are naturally occurring along fence lines along the walking path at the Chris Quinn Soccer Fields and in lots of rural fields around town. How delicious to pick and eat!
