Words come in all shapes, sizes and languages, in caps or lower case letters, written, typed, inscribed or said. Sometimes they are spoken in a whisper and sometimes screamed from the rooftops. We often say or write things when we don’t even know for sure what the words mean. Words can help heal, and words can cause unbearable damage, wrecking homes, relationships, professions and our lives.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced that an agreement has been reached with the National Marine Fisheries Service to extend the 2017 recreational red snapper season by 39 weekend days in the Gulf of Mexico for recreational anglers.

Red snapper fishing will reopen for private recreational anglers in the Gulf out to 200 miles every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, including Monday and Tuesday of the July Fourth holiday and the Monday of Labor Day. This 39-day season opened June 16. State seasons will run congruently with the federal season.

Q. In January, a business agreed to install a new “Ford remanufactured engine” in my truck. On the receipt, it came with a 100,000 miles and three-year warranty. Before 1,000 miles, the truck started making a knocking noise. The business told me it was the transmission. I brought the truck to a local Ford dealer. The dealership performed a complete diagnostics and said the knocking was coming from the engine.

Sometime back, I happened to be in the company of a CEO of a large, national food store chain. During our conversation, he spoke of the fight that was going on for majority control of the stock in the company. He had previously told me the corporation teetered on the brink of bankruptcy.
