It has become painfully apparent to many of the governor supporters why Rick Perry did not choose to debate Mayor Bill White in his last governor’s race and that he was wise to not do so. Recent events in the presidential race indicate Perry is not a very good debater, does not think well on his feet, and embarrassing facts seem to emerge every time he makes such a high-profile appearance.

Many firms offer free or paid online backup

Recently, the president of a local nonprofit community service organization asked me to review a proposal she had received from one of the prominent, heavily advertised, online backup services. The quote to provide automated backup services for all of the computers in the organization (about 10 computers) for a year was nearly $500. I informed her that while the price received was appropriate for the level and quality of service offered, there were better prices available from competitive services.

Blame for shrimp shortage might lie with the fish

During the times of the year where the prevailing winds are southeast with some due south and southwest thrown in, the marshes hold plenty of water. The past couple years the salt content, even back in the marshes, has been higher than normal. Many species of saltwater fish have been caught by anglers who were fishing for up into the rivers. Both the Neches River and the Sabine River have yielded some excellent catches of speckled trout, redfish, flounder, croaker and sand trout.
