What your kids will want

By summer’s end, 18 new video games will line the shelves of your favorite gaming store. What will make your kid say, “I want?” Let’s take a sneak peek.

There are two racing games due out this summer. The first is DIRT Showdown. It’s a down and dirty racing game with the trailer mantra of “Race Hard, Party Hard.” It’s rated E+10 for everyone older than 10 but includes a few choice hand gestures as racers crash and bang into each other to reach the finish line.

Battleship! Is it a board game, a movie or a video game? Well, it’s all three.

The Hasbro board game originally produced by Milton Bradley in 1943 has launched yet another first person shooter video game, available for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii on May 15. The movie, a sci-fi action flick, was released in the U.S. on May 18. Obviously, the operative phrase this month is, “Prepare for battle.”

Even Harry Potter had an ending – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” It took eight movies, but now it’s over. With certain video game series, we consumers might not be as lucky.

There’s no end to the possibilities of creating new, better, upgraded versions of the most popular video game series. Just this year, expect Max Payne III, LEGO Batman II, Dead or Alive V, Epic Mickey II, Resident Evil VI, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Assassin’s Creed III and Halo IV.
