Use ornaments to share the story of Christmas

Advent calendars may seem too ’90s for some people, but a collection of ornaments that tell a story can allow for relaxation and creativity while preparing for a busy holiday season.

One of Beaumont First Baptist Church’s community groups had an ornament gift exchange a couple of years ago to celebrate advent. Everyone who participated picked an ornament and made one for every person in the group, including themselves, so that at the end of the exchange, each person had 25 different ornaments, each representing  a biblical story, from creation through the birth of Jesus.

The version the First Baptist group used is called the Jesse Tree. Families hang one of these ornaments on the tree every day and tell their kids another piece of the story.
