Chambers Stevens

Hollywood-based acting coach and author Chambers Stevens will return to Beaumont for a small-group intensive acting workshop April 25-27 for adults and older teens. He will also teach a Disney 101 workshop for children and pre-teens and a 21st-Century Acting workshop for adults and teens on April 30.

Saturday, Feb. 27, is the final time to see the work of artist David Granitz, a 37-year-old Beaumont native, at The Art Studio (720 Franklin) in downtown Beaumont. His exhibition is titled “Eulipion Constructs: The Recent Artwork of David W. Granitz III.”

Lamar University’s Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music will host a master class with internationally renowned violinist Ryu Goto on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to observe the free master class in the Rothwell Recital Hall on the campus of Lamar University.

The Stark Museum of Art is welcoming families to make art after dark during Third Thursdays Art Night on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 5-7 p.m. Admission is free for all Orange County public, private or home school students, grades pre-K-12, wearing school colors or spirit wear. Admission for adults (18-64) is $6; seniors, (65 or over) $5; and children 3 and under are admitted free. Stark Cultural Venues members will also receive free admission.

Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m., Avril Falgout will unveil new work at the Museum of the Gulf Coast she has created in honor of Janis Joplin, whose birthday would have been Jan. 19. Birthday cake and refreshments will follow. Guests are encouraged to dress like rock stars, and a prize will be given for the best party attire.

Act I Scene I Theatre Company will present Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap beginning Friday, Oct. 16, at the First Christian Church in Port Arthur, located at 5856 Ninth Ave. Show dates are Oct. 16-18 and Oct. 23-25. Show times are 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for Friday/Saturday shows are $25, which includes dinner, and Sunday tickets are $15 and include dessert.

Lamar University’s Dishman Art Museum is currently exhibiting large-scale photographs by Eliot Dudik from two recent series, “Broken Land” and “Still Lives.” “Broken Land” offers a series of color landscape photographs of Civil War battlefields in various seasons, while “Still Lives” is a collection of portraits of modern Civil War re-enactors. The exhibition will run through Nov. 6.
