Mazda’s best-selling vehicle: Mazda3

Mazda3 is in its third generation, and with nearly 4 million vehicles sold worldwide, continues to be the brand’s best-selling vehicle in North America and globally. For 2015, Mazda3 includes an array of new standard features and package content.

Frugal on fuel

The 2015 Mazda3 is available with two gasoline engine choices in the United States: a Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter and Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter. Two transmission choices are available with a choice of the Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual and Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic. Previously only available on Skyactiv-G 2.0L-equipped vehicles, new-for-2015 the manual transmission can now be paired with the Skyactiv-G 2.5L.

Four-door models equipped with the Skyactiv-G 2.0L and mated to a six-speed manual receive an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 29 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway and 33 mpg combined. Fuel economy ratings with the automatic transmission are 30 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway, and 34 mpg combined.

Additionally, five-door models offer comparable mpg figures. When equipped with the Skyactiv-MT manual, the Mazda3 five-door’s EPA-estimated fuel rating is 29 mpg in the city, 40-mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg combined, and 30 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg combined when paired with the Skyactiv-Drive automatic.

The more robust Skyactiv-G 2.5L also offers good fuel economy. Sedans equipped with the Skyactiv-MT transmission receive an EPA-estimate rating of 25 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 29 mpg combined while an automatic transmission pairing is rated at 28 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 32 mpg combined. (Five-door models that receive a manual transmission feature 26 city/35 highway/29 combined mpg, while five-door models with an automatic transmission feature 27 city/37 highway/31 combined mpg.)
