New Luxury-Utility Crossover: ‘15 Lexus NX

Lexus first created the luxury-utility crossover category in 1998 with the original midsized RX model; now, in 2015, Lexus adds the all-new NX to its lineup.

The 2015 NX debuts in two versions: NX 200t and NX 200t F SPORT. Each has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. And the NX 300h hybrid brings the brand’s number of hybrid offerings to six, the most among luxury brands.

As Lexus’ first-ever turbocharged gasoline engine, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 235 horsepower and 258 foot-pounds of torque and is paired with an all-new six-speed transmission. Fuel economy ratings for the NX 200t is 28 mpg on the highway, 22 mpg in the city and 25 mpg combined. The NX 300h hybrid features fuel economy ratings of 31 mpg on the highway, 35 mpg in the city and 33 mpg combined.

The exterior of the Lexus NX is characterized by its bold spindle grille, tailgate and integrated spoiler. Additionally, Lexus designed a new range of 17-inch and optional 18-inch alloy wheels specifically for the NX.

For 2015, the NX is available in nine colors, including Silver Lining Metallic, Eminent White, Nebula Gray Pearl, Meteor Blue Mica and more.

Inside the NX cabin, five color variations are available. The base model, along with the comfort and premium packages, feature perforated Crème, Flaxen or Black NuLuxe inserts with Dark Umber trim, while the F SPORT package exclusively offers perforated Black or Rioja Red NuLuxe, each accentuated by metallic trim. The F SPORT seats also feature black accent strips with perforated NuLuxe inserts.

Genuine leather in Crème or Black distinguishes the Luxury package, which also trims the cabin exclusively with Linear Mocha Wood.

With seating for five, the NX 200t offers 36.1-inches of rear legroom, 55.3-inches of rear shoulder room, and 53.9-inches of rear hip room. Cargo volume is 17.7 cubic feet with rear seats upright or 54.6 cubic feet with rear seats folded. Other interior features include carpeted floor mats, automatic dual-zone climate control, standard eight-speaker AM/FM/HD Radio audio system, and much more.
