Nissan's midsized truck, the Frontier
For 2014, Frontier again offers a choice of a powerful 4.0-liter DOHC V6 engine rated at 261 horsepower and 281 foot-pounds of torque or a fuel-efficient 152-horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (4x2 King Cab) rated at 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway (I4 King Cab 2WD M/T).
Additionally, the 2014 Nissan Frontier is offered in both King Cab and Crew Cab body styles and in 4x2 and 4x4 driveline configurations, along with five trim grades: Frontier S (4-cylinder and V6), SV, PRO-4X, Desert Runner and SL (Crew Cab only).
The mid-size Nissan Frontier emulates many of the full-size Nissan Titan’s features, including its bold and expressive exterior styling. Frontier utilizes signature Nissan truck themes – an angled strut grille, large bumpers, short front and rear overhangs and large, stamped-steel geometric fender flares.
Long Bed models are available with Frontier Crew Cab SV and Crew Cab SL. Measuring more than 13 inches longer than the Crew Cab’s standard bed, the Long Bed models offer the roomy interior of the Crew Cab plus the extended bed space of the King Cab.
Eight exterior colors are offered for the 2014 Frontier, including colors such as Glacier White, Graphite Blue, Cayenne Red, Brilliant Silver, Metallic Blue and Super Black.
Frontier’s 4.0-liter DOHC V6 is assembled at Nissan’s engine production facility in Decherd, Tenn., which also produces Titan’s 5.6-liter V8. The V6 engine has fuel efficiency averages of 22 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city.
The 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine produces 152 horsepower and 171 foot-pounds of torque and is also available on the Frontier King Cab S-I4 and SV-I4 4x2 models. Fuel economy averages are 23 mph on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.
Additionally, Frontier is offered with a choice of transmissions – a 5-speed automatic, a 6-speed manual or 5-speed manual transmission (King Cab 4-cylinder models).
For 2014, the Nissan Frontier is again available in a wide range of models and configurations. To learn more about this midsize truck, which has a starting MSRP of $17,990, visit your local Southeast Texas Nissan dealer or log on to www.nissanusa.com.
