Pet of the Week: holiday special

Penny the cat
Randy the dog
Comet the cat
Dixon the dog

You can’t adopt the dogs and cats pictured here. Why? Because as past Pet of the Week candidates, they’ve all been adopted or pulled by a rescue group! But Beaumont Animal Care still needs your help in saving a life or fostering a homeless pet for the holidays.

What does that phrase “Home for the Holidays” mean to you? Perhaps being with family and friends, good food, a feeling of love and belonging? For many of us and our pets, we will experience those feelings this holiday season, but for shelter pets, the shelter is a temporary home with no family, lying on a cold concrete floor, looking at the world through a chain-link enclosure watching, waiting and hoping for a home. This season, YOU can make a difference! Consider fostering a pet in your home for the holidays! The Beaumont shelter has many dogs and cats that would love to be a part of your family during this time of the year. Beaumont Animal Care is challenging the community and looking for fosters to give its pets a chance to enjoy a home for the holidays. Dec. 1 kicks off a month-long event for the shelter dogs and cats. Complete a foster application to get pre-approved and all you have to do is watch the Beaumont Animal Care Facebook page or visit the shelter, and they will help you select the “best match” pet for you or your family to bring home for the holidays! The shelter’s heartfelt gift is the hope you just might fall in love with “Fido” or “Kitty” because they really don’t like returns!

All animals are held at Beaumont Animal Services a minimum of 24 business hours before becoming available for adoption. Anyone interested in adopting an animal should fill out an adoption application at or pick up one at 1884 Pine St. Call (409) 838-3304.
